__________ Tap Titans 2 _________

Hey everyone, Pyro here.

I get asked a lot of questions in chat and I try to help people as often as possible, but I’m not always around to reply so I’ve decided to make this guide as a way to help everyone out by answering some of the most asked questions.

This guide will be a mix of my thoughts as well as other guides already available and I will aim to give credit where possible.

Should I Buy A New Artifact Or Level Existing Ones?

This is personal preference, but I would recommend only buying a new artifact if you can save enough relics in 1-3 prestiges to afford it. It is not worth saving relics over multiple prestiges or days only to unlock an artifact that does not benefit your build at all, you would have been better putting those relics in to upgrading the artifacts you already own.

What level should my book of shadows (BOS) be?

This depends on where you are in the game as well as personal preference, simply pick which ever works best for you:

Pre-10k max stage
5k = BOS 300
6k = BOS 500
7k = BOS 1k
8k = BOS 2k
9k = BOS 6k
10k = BOS 10k

50% Lifetime relics
BOS to be roughly 50% of your total lifetime relics. To work this out you can view you total lifetime relics in the stats screen and if you click on BOS it will show you how many relics you have spent on it (this includes the price of the last artifact unlock, but it’s negligible)

90-95% Lifetime relics
This is less efficient than the 50% rule, but will help you win tournaments by being able to outfarm your opponents

What Artifacts should I Level For My Build?

This is impossible to tell you without using an artifact calculator, I will link the artifact calculator that I use below, but you may need to follow the update link within the spreadsheet to get the most up to date version.

–Artifact Optimiser–

If you do not wish to use an artifact calculator then you can work out what you should level by looking at the tier list in the link below made by Lemmingllama, however be advised that this will put you at a disadvantage in tournaments as your opponents will most like be more optimized than you.

~~~ Equipment ~~~
Do I need to save equipment for sets?
No once you have found/crafted an item for a set then it is permanently unlocked, you can sell that equipment and it will still be unlocked in the crafting panel.
What Equipment Sets Should I Craft?
Firstly there is 2 different approaches to this, you can either buy all the cheap sets first or save up for the mythic sets first.
The Mythic Sets Method give you a very large boost as well as some unique bonuses that you can’t get anywhere else, the 50% relic increases is also a very big boost and will continue to help you well in to late game. These sets take a long time to save up for but will give you the best long lasting effects.
The Cheap Sets Method will give you an immediate boost to power which can help you push in tournaments. This will help you to will and couple of tournaments and cost very little. These sets are best if you want quick short term gains, but do not scale as well in the long run.
On a side note, only craft equipment from sets you have not completed. Crafting items you already have is a waste of shards as it does not give you any additional bonuses and you will quickly out level that equipment. Crafting is more about the set bonuses not the actual equipment.
Below I will include a link to Lemmingllama’s post on the main current sets and a brief description on their importance.
~~~ Builds/Skills ~~~

What build/skills should I use?

This is dependent on where you are in the game and your playstyle. At them bottom I will post one of the best builds for people with less than 150 skill points, I will also post another link with a large range of builds.

Clanship – If you have less than 500 skill points USE THIS BUILD. I can’t say it enough, the only build you should be using if you have less than 500 skill points is a Clanship build. It the best early game build due to it’s speed, low reliance on skill points and not needing the Fire Sword or Shadow Clone active skills. This build is also good for late game but begins to lose to shadow clone builds at higher skill points.

Shadow Clone – Only use if you have at least 500 skill points, shadow clone is good with high skill points but is not great for early game. This build is good if you want to be slightly idle as you only need to activate your skills and tap for 3 seconds then you can leave the game to do it’s thing until your skills time out or you run out of damage to kill the bosses without upgrading heroes. The ruthless necromancer set is highly recommended for this set as it is currently the only form of splash for shadow clone.

Heveanly Strike – This is a very quick build but requires a lot of skill points as well as the correct sets and artifacts to work well. This build can not push as far as other builds but because of it’s speed you can farm quicker and therefore beat other builds through increasing artifacts. Be aware this is a very active build with you having to tap every few seconds.

Pet – Supposedly good at end game, but I have never tried using it so I do not know it’s potential. Very active build with lots of continuous tapping. Do NOT use this build with less than 1000 total pet levels.

“Hero build” – THIS IS NOT A BUILD, I get asked for this “build” all the time, hero’s increase the damage of OTHER builds they should never be used as your sole damage, seriously you will do more damage just by tapping than leaving your heroes to attack on their own.

Silent March/ Offline – Again this isn’t exactly a build, if you wish to do offline damage pick either a clan ship, shadow clone or pet build and then add the required skills. To turn any of these build in to a “Silent March” build just add Silent March lvl 10, Ambush lvl 10 and pick the corresponding damage skill out of the bottom 3 skills from the rogue tree.

Extra Info if you are using Silent March or Ambush in any build it should always be lvl 10, anything below that is pretty much a waste of skill points as the bonus is almost non existent at low levels

Beginners build for less than 150 skill points

~~~ Tournaments ~~~
How To Do Better In Tournaments?
The current algorithm that is used to determine who you place with in your tournament is based off of your max possible stage, it takes in to account all artifact, pets, hero weapons, skill points etc. We currently don’t know the exact formula so we are not able to ‘cheat’ the system. There are however 2 ways that can help you to win your tournaments.
1. Use the Durendal pushing build. I do not fully understand how this build works and can’t therefore explain it for you, but it revolves around using a build that splashes and then making the amount you splash equal to the amount of titans per stage. You then find a point where you are struggling to kill the boss, if you then time it so that you splash on a regular titan instead of the boss you will then be able to skip the boss, you do this repeatedly until you can no longer kill the tians. This build is very good at pushing as titans have less health than bosses and are easier to kill. For a more detailed explanation of the Durendal pushing build please check out this link (yes it’s by Lemmingllama again, honestly she does such amazingly detailed posts that it’s not even worth making my own)
–Durendal Push Method–
2. Book Of Shadows Farming. This method is simple, you can not make yourself more powerful before a tournament as it will just put you with more powerful opponents, so instead you increase the amount of relics you gain for each prestige which should help you level your artifacts higher than the people you are facing and therefore beat them. To do this method only level you book of shadows outside of tournament and no other artifact, you ideally want BOS to be 90% of your total lifetime relics. Then when you enter the tournament you do as many prestiges as you can within the time limit and before the tournaments ends you dump all your relics in to the best artifacts you can and spend the remainder of the tournament pushing.
This approach is what makes Heavenly Strike builds so popular as you can do lots of runs extremely quickly, however you do not need a heavenly strike build for this approach to work.
This guy is winning by X stages! They must be cheating right?
Maybe…? Honestly this is impossible to tell but more than likely they are an honest person than is either very lucky or knowledgeable of tournament mechanics. It is possible to win a tournament by anywhere up to 2000 stages simply down to pure luck and here is how:
1) They saved up relics before the tournament and got 1 or more S tier artifacts unlocked
2) Their build is more optimal than everyone else
3) They have a farming build and lots of free time, meaning they farmed more runs than everyone else resulting in higher artifacts and pushing power
4) They started with a very high BOS (90% or higher) and farmed more relics than everyone else resulting in higher artifacts and pushing power
5) They managed to ascend the next hero
6) They use the Durendal pushing method
7) They’re rich and spent real money on lots of titan chests
The person you’re accusing of cheating may have accomplished one, two or all of the above points resulting in a massive lead on everyone else. If you still believe someone is cheating even after reading this than click on their name and press the report button, asking everyone if they think the person is cheating just results in a witch hunt and annoyance for everyone.
What Should I Spend Diamonds On?
This depends on where you are in the game, below I will list what you should/ shouldn’t be spending diamonds on
DO spend diamonds on:
All damage pets – Important early game until lvl 100, but not as important late game
All hero damage and gold pets – Good for early game but does not give as much boost as All Damage pets
Kit pet – Very important early game but once you get lvl 100 and can splash x4 most all the way to max stage DO NOT buy any more as it is a waste
Fluffers pet – Buy until lvl 500, mana is very important and Fluffers is the best way to get it without spending skill points
Additional clan quest attacks – The quicker the boss dies the quicker a new one spawns. The entire clan gains a damage and stage start boost depending on how many bosses have been defeated so this is very important (Update: In the coming 3.0 update clans will be changing drastically and therefore this may no longer be relevant after the 3.0 update)
Wooden chests – If you are looking for lots of pets, good for very early game
Titan chests – Good if you want more crafting shards and skill points. Once you have all pets lvl 100 and fluffers lv 500 I would suggest focussing the majority of your diamonds here (with the exception of additional clan attacks) as skill points become extremely important late game
DO NOT spend diamonds on:
Spell/Ranged/Melee pets – Due to constantly changing heroes you will only gain this boost 1/3 of the time and it is therefore not worth it
Tap pets – This only benefits certain builds and does not give as much boost as the all damage pets
Perks – These are over priced, you will get enough through tournaments if you use them sparingly
Hero Weapons – Another one that is extremely over priced, you will get plenty of these from tournaments so don’t buy them
Equipment – This is only a temporary buff as you will quickly out level these items as your max stage increases, only buy equipment if it is the last piece of a set as the set bonus can be worthwhile
